Moment in the City
Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year is such a fun time. A lot of loud noises and good food is enjoyed. So I captured a bit of that magic while I was waiting for Dim Sum with my family.
Day of Red Sun
A day when the whole sky was dyed red from the ash of the California Wildfire of September 2020. I just ran out with my camera and went to take as many pictures as I could. It was an opportunity that doesn’t come often for a photographer.
Nam Kue’s 100 Year Anniversary
I had the honor of photographing and taking video of one of the oldest Chinese schools around during their hundred year anniversary. Some of the photos and footage were featured in other media.
Outdoor Dining
Once Covid hit, everyone had to get creative with how people could eat outdoors. And that was incredibly challenging given how windy and foggy it gets around the city. But there have been many good designs here and there.
Impromptu Auto Show in San Mateo
I was just eating dinner at the El Camino Real when a ton of cars just came driving down. And not just any ordinary cars. Most of them were the classics that you normally wouldn’t see anymore. With my camera firmly in my hand, I snapped as many shots as I could.
Anti-Asian Violence Protest in Chinatown
I was on my way home through downtown when I heard a commotion of protests in the street. It’s downtown so they usually happen about once a week. But this was about the then recent events involving violence against Asians. It was a monumental event and I had to capture it. So I took the necessary actions to get to the event as quickly as possible.
Silhouettes
There’s just something so nice about a figure of black surrounded by light. Of the ones I’ve taken, these are my favorite.
Musicians at Hayes Valley
There are many things you can’t expect to see while roaming the streets. But I didn’t expect to see a family of musicians playing on the street.
Jazz at North Beach
Musical talent used to be such a big thing in the hey day of North Beach. And with Covid slowly receding, I got the chance to see a bit of it come back.
Golden Hour
A magical time when light transforms to darkness. And I had a good friend to capture it with. And a good angle with a good elevation.
